“the sky is full of love” (2024)

Broken granite, tile, broken tile, acrylic, broken marble, textile sample, shotgun shells, Brillo pad, lego, keyboard key, antique hinge, faux flowers, specialty pearl

The title of the piece “the sky is full of love” comes from Sade’s song “Kiss of Life.” This piece explores the theme of love and value through the contrast between high-value materials like pearls and low-value items such as broken granite and shotgun shells. The only material that can be sold independently is the pearl, which comes from a reputable local Houston dealer. This piece purposely avoids using materials purchased from Amazon. Viewers can observe the piece from multiple perspectives and the light reflecting off of the mirror tile at different times of the day adds more variety to the piece.
